Protect yourself from phishing scam notifications or other forms of communications
How can I tell if the notification I received is authentic?
1. SMS Notification*This is only an example of an Assurance Package (AP) SMS. The actual SMS received may be different.
Here are some tips on how you can protect yourself against phishing SMSes:
- Check the sender ID is "gov.sg" with all letters in lowercase. From 1 July 2024, all government SMS communications will be sent under this same sender ID.
- The SMS will have the full name of the agency that sent it or the service/scheme name.
- The SMS ends with "This is an automated message sent by the Singapore Government.". It means you should not reply to this message.
- SMS notifications on Assurance Package and GST Voucher will be sent to the mobile number registered with Singpass. If unsure, you may check your profile using your Singpass app or the Singpass website.
- SMS notifications on Workfare Income Supplement and Silver Support Scheme will be sent to the mobile number registered with CPF Board.
- Verify that the last four characters of the masked NRIC number are the same as your NRIC number.
- We will never ask you to reply to the SMS nor direct you to a non-Government website. Do report any suspicious SMS spoofing to us.
When receiving a letter, take the following steps:
- Verify that the details mentioned in the letter belongs to you.
- You may also log into the official websites to authenticate the details mentioned in the letter.
